What is the difference between a regular pump and the Tank Revolution Pump system?
A regular pump set for flammable or chemical products consists of a pump, API seal plan, electrical motor and frequency drive for each tank or product. Our canned pump system consists of a can with a submerged pump that is hydraulic driven by a powerpack and one hydraulic control valve for each pump. The biggest difference is that the powerpack is build for the maximum amount of simultaneously running pumps instead of complete sets for all pumps.
Why can the Tankrevolution pump be place inside a tank pit and a regular pump not?
Regular pumps have open running parts like electrical motors and pump parts these will cease to operate if a bund is filled with liquid. Also an explosive situation can be created. Due to our canned submerged hydraulic driven system all running parts are enclosed and they won’t create a hotspot to ignite explosive vapors
What is the biggest cost saving with This pump system?
Due to the fact that the pump can be placed inside the tank pit near the tank for product transfer or mixing the amount of piping and manifold can be reduced. The installed power supply can be built for the maximum amount of simultaneously running of pumps so less installed electrical power. No API seal plan is needed because the pump is submerged.
Can the Tank Revolution pump system save on a terminal Carbon footprint?
Due to the hydraulic control system the powerpack is always running on its optimal working point so almost no energy is wasted so the carbon footprint is lowered.
What is the OPEX cost saving in comparison to a regular pump?
The pumps are low maintenance. The powerpack needs to check ones a year for leakage, filters and oil quality. This is much cost efficient in comparison with regular pumps with frequency drives, seal plans and open running parts.
Is the pump suitable for ATEX(explosion) zone 1 and 2?
Due to the canned pump system and the right choice of instrumentation, this pump can be placed inside a zone 1 or higher. The temperature of the hydraulic lines and components can be controlled and monitored to keep the surface temperature is in range of the T class.
What is the weakest point of this system?
Due to one combined hydraulic system the powerpack is the weakest point of the system and needs to be checked frequently and monitored by the vendor. This system has been modified and proven to be very reliable in the last 35 years. There are always more electrical motors and hydraulic pumps to create redundancy.
Do I need a big pump plate for the pumps and powerpack?
All pumps and powerpacks needs to be placed on a simple foundation. The pumps are part of the piping and can not leak so no bunded area is needed. The powerpack ca be covered and made with a leak tide floor to prevent hydraulic oil to leak into the ground. All our oils are environmental friendly and biodegradable.
Are the pumps easy to maintain?
The advice is to check the pumps for leakages and vibrations yearly. Ones in the 5 years the pumps must be checks for wear and tear in the shop. The pumps can be easily replaced with a spare by taking of the top flange with the pump and replaced by the spare.
What is the maintenance that needs to be done on this system?
The system needs to be visually checked for leakage and filters needs to be replaced, oil quality check. Instruments according Electrical regulation and IO test depending on the terminal frequency. For the pump we advise to check the pump for wear and tear ones in the 5 years and can be done in the shop. The product transfer pump can easily be replaced by disconnecting the top flange (with pump) and replaced it with a spare.
In what stage of a project can we make a choice for the kind of pump we need?
During the basic engineering this system must be added because the pumps are place near the tank in stead of on a pump plate out tide the tank pit. This can save a lot of piping, supporting, tracing and insulation. Also the installed power can be less then with regular pumps. The pumps can be applied when a revamp is required and eg additional mixing is required.
Are these pump better priced in comparison to regular pumps?
This system (pump, piping and powerpack) is more or less the same price as regular pumps but the savings on piping, manifold, pump plates, etc. can be up to 50%.
